World Cup Final referee to handle Ireland v Scotland

The importance of Saturday's Euro 2016 qualifier between Ireland and Scotland is reflected in UEFA's appointment of last year's World Cup Final referee for the match.

Nicola Rizzoli of Italy handled the 2014 showpiece between Germany and Argentina and he will have the whistle in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday when a defeat for Ireland would see Martin O'Neill's Boys in Green wave goodbye to their chance of getting to France next year.

The 43-year-old also did the all-German Champions' League Final at Wembley in 2013 between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund
