Arsene Wenger comes in for huge fan criticism as Arsenal announce striker signing
The Gunners' most recent signing has drawn the ire of fans who crave a big-name capture.
Arsenal announced yesterday that the club has agreed a deal in principle to sign 21-year-old Japan striker Takuma Asano.
The deal is subject to a medical, while the player will also need to complete an international clearance process.
“Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future." 👇https://t.co/vO5SNftMwd— Arsenal FC (@Arsenal) July 3, 2016
Having made his Japan debut in August 2015, the young forward is expected to be part of the country's Olympic squad for Rio 2016.
Even though this means that Gunners fans might not see the striker in action until well after the Premier League begins, their reaction belies the fact that this is not a striker they ever expected to don the Arsenal jersey:

Arsene Wenger told the club's official website of the striker, who scored just 11 times in 56 appearances for J-League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima: "Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future.
"He has had an impressive start to his career in Japan and we look forward to him developing over the next couple of years."
