WATCH - Keane hits back over controversial celebration
Robbie Keane has hit back at claims that he should be stripped of the LA Galaxy captaincy after a controversial goal celebration in his side's opening win of the new MLS season against Chicago Fire.
A seemingly angry Keane reacted to his stunning late goal with less than joyous celebration, with US commentators suggesting his gestures were a sign of annoyance with LA Galaxy fans, but Keane rejects such a claim.
"You can't speculate on something you don't know. It's not a big deal. It's nothing. It's passion," argued Keane.
"I want to win all the times. I want things to be better. I do a lot of things sometimes to get everybody going in a different way. That's my way of doing things. I do it on the training field, I do it on the field. I'll always continue to do that."
LS Galaxy coach Bruce Arena has confirmed Keane will still be his captain this weekend, with the striker suggesting he may not speak to the TV commentators who hyped up this story with their on-air comments.
