Steven Gerrard was given an emotional send-off from his adoring Anfield faithful, as he made a final appearance on the stage he has dominated for the last 17 years.
Crystal Palace did not follow the script as they turned out to be party poopers on Gerrard's big day as they ran out as deserved 3-1 winners, but defeat in his final match at Anfield was a minor blow on a night all present will never forget.

With his three daughters by his side (below), Gerrard touched the famous This is Anfield sign as he made his way down the narrow corridor leading to the pitch, before a huge tribute to the Liverpool great began in earnest.
The Anfield Kop paid their tribute in their own unique style, with huge banners waved throughout the match to toast their hero.
Gerrard wore boots with YNWA stitched into the heel, as he paid tribute to Liverpool anthem You'll Never Walk Alone.
Palace forgot their role in what was a Gerrard tribute match as they ran out comfortable winners at Anfield.
