Louis van Gaal suggested his side had played their part in a "crazy match" as they crashed of the Champions League after a 3-2 defeat against Wolfsburg.

The United boss came under fire on social media after United's demise in Germany, with Van Gaal admitting his team were not good enough against Wolfsburg as he spoke to BT Sport:

Meanwhile, United midfielder Marouane Fellaini said his side "were unlucky" after their defeat in Germany

Fellaini came under fire from United supporters during the Group B clash in Germany, with his stumbling efforts doing little to endear him to fans who have struggled to embrace his abilities.

Yet he suggested United's demotion to the Europa League in the first half of 2016 was merely unfortunate.
