Mark Hughes has been singled out as a manager who could be ideally placed to succeed Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.
Hughes was a hugely popular goal scorer for United during his two spells as a player with the club, with his managerial journey taking him via an unusual route as he took over as Man City manager back in 2008.
He was sacked the following year and replaced by Roberto Mancini, but he is now being talked up as a potential candidate to return to a top job after doing a fine job at Stoke.
