Terminally ill Manchester United fan Tom Cooper was given the day of his life when he visited the club’s Carrington training base with his daughters.

Tom was under the impression his daughters were to take part in the club’s official Christmas card photo shoot, but he was in for a treat that his whole family will remember.

Tom, 28, suffers from Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma, a rare form of cancer that has spread across his body and for which there is no more treatment available.

It had been his dream to meet the Manchester United squad and he was nominated by followers of his Facebook page for this special treat.

Manager Louis van Gaal and his assistant Ryan Giggs took part in an event that showed a caring side of football that is rarely seen in the modern game.

All at United deserve credit for making this one of the most special days in Tom's life.
