Video - Liverpool romp to easy pre-season victory
Liverpool teenager Ben Woodburn caught the eye of manager Jurgen Klopp as he scored in a 5-0 pre-season friendly win against Fleetwood.
The Reds ran out comfortable winners on a night when Klopp named a strong side, featuring Dejan Lovren as captain and big-money summer signing Sadio Mane partnering fit-again striker Danny Ings up front.
Goals from Marko Grujic, Lucas Leiva and two from Roberto Firmino sealed a comfortable victory for Liverpool, yet it was the strike from 16-year-old Woodburn that will steal all the headlines.
Woodburn is still very much a raw talent, but he has caught the eye of Liverpool academy chiefs in the last year and has earned international caps with Wales at junior levels as he makes his mark in the game.
With Klopp is keen to give some of Liverpool’s best young players a chance to shine ahead of his first full season as Liverpool manager, Woodburn seems keen to take his chance and while the young starlet may not be ready for first team duty in the Premier League just yet, this strike from an earlier Reds under-18 game suggests he is one to watch in the future.
