Video - Liverpool fans not happy as Simon Mignolet signs new contract
Liverpool have confirmed that keeper Simon Mignolet has signed a contract with the club, but some of the club's supporters are not too happy with the news.
Mignolet's uncertainty between the sticks for Liverpool was a theme throughout 2015, with his previous manager Brendan Rodgers dropping him after a slump in form a little over a year ago.
Many critics still believe he is a weak link in the Liverpool team, but new boss Jurgen Klopp appears to be impressed with what he has seen from the Belgian so far and has backed him to remain as the club's No.1 for the long-term.
This was the view of Mignolet on the day he sealed his new deal and a pay rise to go with it.
The reaction of Liverpool fans to the news was less joyous, with many of these negative tweets appearing on the club's official Twitter account:
Mignolet is a good shot stopper but doesn't command his penalty area. It's an obvious part of the team Klopp should be looking to strengthen— Dan Willis (@danwillis23) January 18, 2016
