Video - Klopp satisfied with Benteke despite his latest flop
Liverpool cruised into the fourth round of the FA Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win against Exeter, yet it was the performance of striker Christian Benteke that caught the eye once again....for all the wrong reasons.
Maiden Liverpool goals for youngsters Sheyi Ojo and Joao Carlos Teixeira sealed a third-round replay victory for the Reds, after Joe Allen scored first to set up a meeting with West Ham at Anfield a week on Saturday.
Yet it was the latest display of indifference from Benteke that was the big talking point, as he failed to grasp his latest chance to push his claims for a regular spot in Klopp's line-up.
Benteke was Liverpool's big summer signing after he sealed a £32m move from Aston Villa, but he has failed to make his mark under Brendan Rodgers and now his successor Klopp.
The Belgian striker continues to be linked with a move away from Liverpool and former Reds striker Michael Owen was highly critical of the powerhouse forward as he was taken off late on at Anfield.
"A total lack of confidence," declared Owen as he watched Benteke's display. "I can't see him getting in the starting line-up any time soon."
Klopp did his best to suggest Benteke's performance was not worthy of such criticism as he spoke to BT Sport.
