Video: Klopp drops classic line about his spare specs

Jurgen Klopp is “looking forward” to Liverpool’s Capital One Cup second leg semi-final clash with Stoke City, while remarking that his spare glasses make him look like a “serial killer”.

The Reds boss, who insists that Christian Benteke won't have to fork to replace the pair he broke, wants his team to express themselves in front of their own fans.

“Boring is not too cool but 1-0 is a good result and we had it at Stoke.

"We have the opportunity to play at Anfield and I heard about special atmosphere in semi-finals. I'm really looking forward to it.

"You should not waste opportunities. I know this game is very important for the players. They want to go to the final and hopefully I can come with them."

The Liverpool boss spoke about his side’s tendency to concede from set-pieces, something which has manifested itself regularly in recent fixtures.

“We know about this problem. It is one we can't ignore.

"We are a football team and we are always working on our weaknesses. We spoke about it intensively, we had good talks, not the first - hopefully the last.

"It is not about formation, not about quality, more about what we are doing in the situations.

"It is not too late to learn but now it is time to show we have learnt.”

The German also reserved praise for Brazilian attacker Roberto Firmino, who scored twice and assisted once during Liverpool’s manic 5-4 victory over Norwich on Saturday, while bemoaning his team’s ability to start games well.

“I am really happy Firmino is in the shape he is. That is good for us.

"The most important thing against Norwich was the different names of the goalscorers. We need that.

"The positive thing was the reaction in the game, but I didn't like our start. I have no words.

"The striking back ability is better than when we came but we must find a way to start at our highest level."
