Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has predicted his club will spend £200m this summer in a bid to be transformed into Premier League title contenders.

The Real Madrid duo of Karim Benzema (above) and Garth Bale are among the star names who have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, with Van Persie ready for a fresh influx of talent into Louis van Gaal's squad.

"United spent £200m on players last year and they are going to spend another £200m this summer so we will have a team that can compete for the title," says Van Persie.

The Dutch striker's own future at United is uncertain, with the 31-year-old in danger of losing his first team spot if Van Gaal signs a couple of big-name strikers this summer.

It means Van Persie is ready to consider a future away from United as he is determined to keep his place in the Dutch team ahead of the Euro 2016 finals.

"It is my ambition to play as many games as possible next season. I feel fitter than ever," he added.

"And I know that the more games I play, the more it will help me prepare for the European Championships next summer.

"I will take everything into consideration when I decide on my future and I know I have to be realistic about the situation."
