Two European giants linked with one of Arsenal's stars
Today's football rumours lead off with the news that both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid want to buy Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny.
The link to the Bundesliga giants comes from the London Evening Standard, who claim that the German side have been monitoring the 30-year old since 2014.
German press had reported that they were plotting a move as they understood the French international was out of contract next summer but it seems he is tied to the Gunners until 2019, making a deal far more tricky.
They also say that the German side see Koscielny as a back up to likely starters Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng and it is believed he would rather stay as a first-choice option at Arsenal.
However, the Star report that another super club is after him.
They claim that Real Madrid see Koscielny as the ideal man to replace compatriot Raphael Varane if he does leave the European champions.
It has been widely rumoured that Jose Mourinho, who introduced Varane to the Madrid first team, would like to bring the talented defender to Manchester United.
However, whatever happens at the Bernabeu, Arsene Wenger is surely unlikely to let his defensive linchpin leave.
