Transfer Talk: Liverpool eye up Real Madrid winger
It's deadline day and here are the moves the papers reckon we might see today.
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is still ready to splash the cash to land West Brom striker SAIDO BERAHINO - despite having a £21million bid rejected on Sunday night, reports The Sun.
Berahino leads the way in most of the press today, with the Mirror saying that long-time admirers Tottenham and Stoke are also interested in getting the striker before the end of the day.
As you might expect, there are lots of juicy rumours in the press today. Liverpool are in pole position to sign Real Madrid winger DENIS CHERYSHEV, according to the Daily Star. The story, originally reported in the Spanish press, stacks up as Zinedine Zidane spoke about his departure yesterday.
"Yes, we are going to see tomorrow but I think that he could still leave," he said yesterday after Real's 6-0 win over Espanyol. "The important thing for him is to have playing time. He is a great player, he needs time and I wish him the best.
"If he has the chance to leave and play, then I am delighted for him. We will see tomorrow."
Elsewhere, the Daily Mail claims CSKA Moscow striker AHMED MUSA is Leicester's preferred option and they have made a £20million offer. If that fails they they will revert to £9m-rated DWIGHT GAYLE at Crystal Palace.
However, the Daily Express reports Manchester United have made a £30.4million offer for Benfica's RENATO SANCHES.
Aston Villa have tried, and failed, to bring former Swansea star Michu back to the Premier League, according to the Sun.
And Aiden McGeady's proposed move to Sheffield Wednesday on loan seems to be all but done, according to all the papers.
Finally Atletico Madrid have had an approach to take DIEGO COSTA back to Spain rejected by Chelsea, reports the Daily Mirror.
