With one week left until the transfer window slams shut, the rumour mill is kicking into full gear, as Liverpool reportedly close in on signing a new attacker.

The Daily Star reports that Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Shakhtar Donetsk striker Alex Teixeira.

Chelsea were thought to be targeting the Brazilian forward but he has now reportedly agreed terms on a £38million deal with the Anfield outfit.

Reds striker Christian Benteke could be set to leave the club after Euro 2016, according to Bleacher Report.

Following serious fan unrest and speculation about Louis van Gaal’s future at Old Trafford, United Chief Executive Ed Woodward has spoken to senior players about the Dutchman’s methods and is considering putting assistant manager Ryan Giggs in charge until the season ends, according to the Mail.

The Times report, meanwhile, that Jose Mourinho is confident of being named the next Old Trafford boss after several reports that he penned a letter to United chiefs expressing his desire to manage the club.

The Red Devils have allegedly stepped up their interest in Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega, say the Sun, as they attempt to bring the Argentine to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes in one week’s time.

The Daily Express report that United are also in talks to sign Colombian attacker James Rodriguez from Real Madrid.

Across Manchester, the Daily Star report that City captain Vincent Kompany faces another month on the treatment table due to an ongoing calf injury.

Newcastle will turn their attention elsewhere after giving up hope of signing Tottenham's Andros Townsend, according to Sky Sports. The Magpies are not willing to pay the £14million wanted by Spurs for the England international.

Mario Suarez could be ready to join Watford, reports the Mirror. The Fiorentina midfielder previously turned down a chance to move to Vicarage Road, but after being told he has no future at the Serie A club he is reconsidering his options.
