While Liverpool fans can still dream of a trophy at the end of the season, next term may see their squad massively depleted if Manchester City have their way.

That is because today's Daily Star says that the blue half of Manchester are plotting to nab three of Liverpool's best players during the summer.

They claim that City want to take Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson and Philip Coutinho to the Etihad, moves that would leave a massive hole in the Liverpool squad.

City's interest in Sterling and Henderson was already known but the interest in the Brazilian, who scored the winner last night in Liverpool's FA Cup quarter final replay against Blackburn, is new and the Star reckon they could nab Coutinho for just £20m if Liverpool fail to make it back to the Champions League.

The piece goes on to say that they don't expect City to get all three but surely even the sale of one, or worse two, to City would be a huge blow to Liverpool next term.

Away from Liverpool and the big news features two of Southampton's best players this season. Nathaniel Clyne and Morgan Schneiderlin have caught the eye of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal, according to the Guardian. Last season the Saints cashed in on some big performers, so we wouldn't be surprised to see them do it again this closed season.

Elsewhere, the Mirror reckon that Barcelona's Pedro could be on the way out of the Nou Camp. The Spaniard has been a bit-part player this term and he admits that his situation is 'complicated' at the club. All that means that the 27-year-old is being linked with a possible switch to Arsenal or Liverpool.

Speaking of Arsenal the Metro think that Gonzalo Higuain, a long-term Arsene Wenger target, may finally arrive at the Emirates this summer. The Argentinian striker will cost the Gunners £30m as he seeks a way out of Napoli.

And finally, in news best described as 'from left field' the same paper reckon that Javier Hernandez may be about to make a sensational switch to Liverpool. The Manchester United striker, currently on loan at Real Madrid, could be up for grabs for just £10m this summer.
