Tottenham finally off-load Emmanuel Adebayor
Tottenham have finally managed to get striker Emmanuel Adebayor off their wage bill by handing him a huge pay-off to walk away from the club.
Spurs have been trying to off-load unwanted striker Adebayor for the last year, with boss Mauricio Pochettino making it clear he would not play for the club again while he was in charge.
Adebayor turned down a move to West Ham on the final day of the transfer window as it would have meant taking a huge pay cut, but now a deal has finally been agreed for the 31-year-old to make his exit.
We can confirm that we've reached a mutual agreement with @E_Adebayor which will see him released from his contract with the Club.— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) September 13, 2015
Adebayor has been training with the Tottenham under-21 side in recent weeks and appeared to be content to take his vast wages for doing little or nothing.
Yet this messy story has now been given a conclusive end, with Adebayor now set to try and set himself up for a final lucrative move in his controversial career.
His Spurs exit is the latest chapter in a story that has seen him leave Arsenal and Manchester City on less than cordial terms and it remains to be seen whether another Premier League club will give him another chance.
Aston Villa and West Ham may now both try and sign Adebayor after failed bids earlier this summer.
