Suarez scored the decisive goal for Barcelona

In a week when football has been mired in scandal, shame and controversy for all the wrong reasons, Barcelona reminded us all that this game can be beautiful after all.

While brilliant Barcelona and battling Juventus produced a memorable final in Berlin, it would have been cruel if the football fates had conspired to produce anything lessthan a victory for Luis Enrique's dream team. In the end, that is just what it did.

An early goal from Ivan Rakitic appeared to pave the way for a Barcelona rout against an overwhelmed Juve, yet Alvaro Morata's 55th minute leveller threw the game back into the melting pot and it needed a moment of magic from Lionel Messi to sway this game in the favour of his team.

Luis Suarez claimed the plaudits for scoring Barcelona's decisive second goal, but it was Messi who carved open the decisive chance of the game with one of his trademark runs.

Suarez's joy as he completed his revial from villain of the game after his biting antics at last summer's World Cup finals were justifed and as Naymar slammed home the Barcelona clinher in the final act of the game, this epic final had a worthy winner.

The spirit the game was played in throughout was a creit to both sets of players, with the plaudits flowing from sportsmen past and present all over the world.

It was also a great night for Sunday World columist, who landed another big charity win with THIS BET.
