Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has declared that he would only play for Liverpool if he was to make a return to the Premier League.

Suarez did all he could to leave Liverpool and join Arsenal in the summer of 2013, before eventually making a move to Barcelona last summer for a reported £75m.

Yet after playing in a charity game at Anfield on Sunday, Suarez declared his devotion to Liverpool is such that he would not want to play for any other Premier League club in his career.

"You never know in football what the future holds, but if I ever play in England again I will play for the Liverpool team and not another team," said Suarez.

"I've missed the fans. The atmosphere is unbelievable, it's amazing. Everyone who's played for Liverpool knows how important the supporters are. They know they are in my heart."

Suarez was given a rapturous ovation by a sell-out Anfield crowd on Sunday as he joined a star-studded cast appearing in the charity match hosted by Liverpool greats Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.

"It was very emotional, I didn't know how to react," he told the Liverpool website. "I wasn't expecting them to sing the song.

"I still remember the great games we had here at Anfield in the Champions League, in the league and fighting for trophies. I have the song in my head, it was so important for me.

"Those three-and-a-half years changed my entire life and career. I remember the song from the Kop in important games. To hear that once again is something I will never, ever forget."
