Manchester United will make what would be a big-money move for France centre-half Raphael Varane this summer, according to a report.

United are stepping up their pursuit of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane. French outlet Le 10 Sport claims several teams are chasing the signature of the 23-year-old.

The Times says Louis van Gaal will lose out on more than £1million of his annual salary at Manchester United if his side fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Apparently, more than half of his £8million annual package is based on a series of performance-related, loyalty and image rights clauses.

However, the club would have to fork out around £5million to the Dutchman if they decide to relieve him of his Old Trafford duties.

Jose Mourinho will not accept United's rumoured proposal of waiting a year to take the reins at Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.

Liverpool are considering a move for much sought after Charlton wonderkid Ademola Lookman, who is valued at around £6million, says the Daily Mirror.

Manchester City centre-half Vincent Kompany could struggle to regain his fitness in time for Euro 2016,  according to the Daily Star.

The Mail also says that Harry Kane is expected to sign a new deal which will double his £50,000-a-week salary and smash Tottenham's existing ceiling of about £80,000 per week.

The Sun claims Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is ready to hand in a transfer request after being involved in a bust-up at the club.

Arsenal are preparing a raid for Dutch striker Vincent Janssen as they look to overhaul their squad this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
