Sky Sports are reporting that the Special One has been told the job is his, if Louis van Gaal is shown the door at Old Trafford this summer.

This latest development comes on the same day that it was reported that Mourinho's advisers had opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain.

Mourinho has persistently suggested he has no interest in working in an 'uncompetitive' league, as he plots a return back into the game, yet his options appear to be narrowing if he is not in position to take over at United.
United boss Louis van Gaal is widely expected to be replaced as the club's manager after he failed to secure a top four finish and qualification for next season's Champions League so this latest report from Sky could be the clearest sign yet that Mourinho will be in the Manchester United dug out next term.
Yet the reports that Mourinho is holding talks with PSG suggests he is considering other options as he looks towards next season.
Mourinho missed out on the chance to replace Alex Ferguson at United back in 2013, as senior figures at Old Trafford moved to block a move for the two-time Champions League winner who went to Chelsea instead.
A move to PSG would not appear to be ideal for Mourinho and the French club have made it clear that they intend to stick with current boss Laurent Blanc after his storming Ligue 1 title success.
