Ryan Giggs is still waiting to hear what role he will be offered in Jose Mourinho’s coaching set-up at Manchester United, according to a report from Sky Sports.

Having worked as assistant manager under Louis van Gaal guidance for the last two years, Giggs was being promoted as a potential successor to the Dutchman when he retired from the game, yet his sacking last month was quickly followed by the appointment of Jose Mourinho as the new United manager.

With Mourinho’s trusted sidekick Rui Faria set to be appointed as his assistant at Old Trafford, Giggs is to be offered a different role as the club look to include him in their future, but Sky Sports are reporting that his role has yet to be defined.

Giggs has been on the staff at United since he signed for the club as a 14-year-old rising star, with his 13-Premier League title winning medals cementing his legacy as one of the game’s all-time greats.

Suggestions that Giggs has been offered a role guiding United’s under-21 players into the first team have been dismissed, with the latest reports claiming the Welshman has had no contact with the club over his future role.

Several high profile former United players have encouraged Giggs to leave the club and forge his own management career away from Old Trafford, with Mourinho and the club yet to make an official comment on his future role.

Giggs is due to return from holiday this weekend and will seek to clarify his position at the club, with the decision over whether he can fit into a tight knit and long established Mourinho coaching structure likely to be confirmed in the coming days.
