Ryan Giggs linked with summer move to Swansea
Ryan Giggs has been linked with a summer move to take over as Swansea City manager, after bookies trimmed the odds on the Manchester United assistant manager taking the Liberty Stadium job next summer.
Swansea recently appointed the experienced Francesco Guidolin as their head coach until the end of the season, with his contract stating both parties will review their positions in May.
That leaves the option open for Swansea to appoint a high profile replacement for Garry Monk, who was sacked last December.
Giggs was strongly linked with the Swansea post following Monk's departure and he is now expected to be under consideration once again if Swansea look to make a bold managerial change next summer.
The future of Giggs at United has been under scrutiny in recent weeks, with growing speculation that Jose Mourinho will replace Louis van Gaal as the club's manager from the start of next season.
That move would leave Giggs to ponder his own United future, after he was hailed as possible successor to Van Gaal when the Dutchman's contract expires in the summer of 2017.
If Van Gaal is replaced before then and Giggs does not want to work in a possible Mourinho set-up at Old Trafford, a move away from the club he has served for almost three decades may be the inevitable outcome.
Swansea would be an attractive option for the Welshman if they were to approach him about their managerial vacancy, especially if the club cling on to their Premier League status this season.
However, Guidolin has suggested that he would expect to remain as Swansea manager if he keeps the club in the top flight for another season.
