Friday's football rumours see Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney linked with a transfer to the Chinese Super League which would see him take home a humongous pay packet.

Wayne Rooney could be set for a sensational summer exit from Manchester United, according to the Manchester Evening News. United have reportedly received a bid from a Chinese Super League club - a move which could earn the England captain £500,000 a week.

United are in danger of missing out on Jose Mourinho, according to the Sun. The out-of-work Portuguese manager is contemplating a return to Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Mauro Icardi will be one of Mourinho's first targets if he does end up at Old Trafford. The Inter striker, who has netted 10 times in 22 Serie A appearances, is gaining a lot of attention and Mourinho could be willing to splash the cash on the 22-year-old, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

The Sun also reports that France forward Antoine Griezmann is wanted by the club in the summer, with the possibility of Juan Mata being used as a makeweight for the Atletico Madrid striker.

According to the Daily Mirror, United players face losing one quarter of their overall pay packet from the start of the next campaign if they fail to gain a spot in the Champions League.

Louis van Gaal, as well as playmaker Mata, has stated that United’s only realistic chance of making it into Europe’s top competition is winning this season’s Europa League. The Red Devils lost 2-1 in the first leg of their round of 32 fixture against FC Midtjylland last night.

The Liverpool Echo states that a £260million regeneration project around Liverpool’s Anfield stadium, which includes a new club hotel, could begin today.

Spanish media outlet Fichajes claims that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will aim to make Real Betis keeper Antonio Adan his third signing, as the club reportedly target the stopper’s £6.2million release clause. Betis, 14th in La Liga, have conceded 33 times in 24 league games this season.

Another player that could be heading to the Chinese Super League is Nicklas Bendtner. The Wolfsburg striker is interesting a number of clubs in the emerging league, reports the Daily Mirror, and could earn £100,000 a week.

And German newspaper De Bild report that Manchester City will make a move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka. The Premier League club are preparing a £39million bid for the 23-year-old.
