A report this evening says that Manchester United will sell Phil Jones in January, and Arsenal and Liverpool may be at the head of teams looking to buy him.

The Sun says this evening that the defender, who is out again with injury, will be sold on as the Special One looks to upgrade his defence.

Jones, who is out for a month with ligament damage, hasn't played since the first week of January and his career at Old Trafford has been blighted by injury.

The 24-year old signed for United for £16.5m in 2011 and was hailed a potential first-team regular for the next decade or more.

However injuries have curtailed his progress and the report says United would let him go for £10m, and get his £110,000k a week salary off the books.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both said to be 'monitoring' the situation.
