Report - Major development in Man United bid for star midfielder

Another day, another development is reported in Manchester United's chase of Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

German football magazine Kicker are reporting that Dortmund have finally decided on a price for the much-coveted Armenian, slapping him with a €40m price tag.

That is a large enough increase from United's most recent bid, reported this week to be in the region of £26m.

The Kicker report says that Dortmund are reluctant to let the player go after losing Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan already this summer but a fee of that magnitude would mean they would be prepared to let him go as he could walk away for free next summer.

The report also adds another note which suggests Dortmund are ready to do business by saying former Chelsea player Andre Schurrle could be on the move from Wolfsburg to Dortmund to replace Mkhitaryan.
