Report: Jose Mourinho unearths Manchester United 'mole'
Man United boss Jose Mourinho is said to have found out who was reportedly leaking his teamsheets to one of the club's fans.
The former Chelsea boss apparently launched an investigation to figure out how his matchday squads were being communicated to outsiders ahead of time.
The leaks have now stopped, with the Sun reporting that Mourinho either unearthed the mole or the source fears being caught.
The website claims to have seen a message which revealed the United lineup to play Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League on September 29 three hours before the game began.
Lineups and matchday squads are usually tweeted by official club accounts an hour before the kick-off of a given fixture.
Members of the press attending games are generally given clubs' lineups earlier than this, though the information is embargoed until officially released.
A United insider told the Sun last month: "Mourinho is spitting feathers after discovering he's being betrayed by someone within the club.
"This sort of information is gold dust for opposition managers and gamblers."
Former Red Devils defender Gary Neville suggested in September that someone inside the club was leaking information to the press.
The accusation came after United had lost three games in a row, with quotes from a 'source' within the club telling the Telegraph of Mourinho: "His delivery of criticism is nasty. It is far more personal than Fergie ever was."
Leaks already after one bad week! Embarrassing!! https://t.co/VS6lViGywD— Gary Neville (@GNev2) September 20, 2016
He was also of the opinion that the quoted source was indeed someone inside the United dressing room:
Absolutely not . However I can sense a piece that's had info passed on and one that's speculative! https://t.co/EPWKLVySGR— Gary Neville (@GNev2) September 20, 2016
