Contract rebel Raheem Sterling was jeered by Liverpool supporters after he picked up the club's Young Player of the Year award on Tuesday night.

Sterling has gone public to confirm that he has turned down a bumper new contract with the Anfield club and fresh reports this week suggest he will ask to leave Liverpool this summer.

Against that back drop, Sterling's appearance at the Liverpool end of season prize giving event was always likely to be uncomfortable and so it proved, with the 20-year-old jeered as he collected his personal accolade.

Fresh reports in Tuesday's papers suggested Manchester City were lining up a £40m move for Sterling this summer, with the young winger's future set to be discussed with his agent and Liverpool officials in the next couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, Philippe Coutinho received a far more positive reception when he collected Liverpool's Player of the Year award from outgoing skipper Steven Gerrard.
