Benitez set to be named Real Madrid boss?

Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is set to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

Benitez has been heavily linked with a move to replace Sam Allardyce at West Ham in recent weeks, but the chance to take over at Real Madrid would be an offer that the Spaniard would find impossible to resist.

The former Liverpool boss is expected to leave Napoli at the end of this season and the expectation was that Benitez would try and plot a route back to a club in England.

Yet Real Madrid may offer him a return to the Champions League stage he relishes, with his iconic win in that competition during his time as Liverpool boss in 2005 the highlight of his coaching career.

Ancelotti is expected to be relieved of his duties at Real Madrid next week and while he has been linked with a possible summer move to Manchester City, reports in Italy claim he is being lined up to make a return to his former club AC Milan.
