A Dublin-based man could win €60,000 after backing both Leicester and Burnley to win their respective leagues in an incredible bet.

Whatever about backing Leicester to win the Premier League at 500/1, you would think that throwing Burnley in at 8/1 to win the Championship is just too outrageous a double for the gambling gods to allow.

However, that is exactly what Sean Keyes did last November and as he sits today with his €10 each way punt, he knows he is very close to winning a substantial amount of money.

It breaks down as follows: if Leicester and Burnley both win their respective leagues, he wins €60,000. If Leicester win and Burnley finish in the top three, he wins €15,000.

But if Leicester stumble down the stretch he wins nothing.

All in all, a particularly spectacular bet, one which he did on a whim about six months ago.

"I'm a Burnley fan," he begins.

"Back in November I read an article titled 'Why Leicester can win the league', and checked their odds after.

"They were 500/1 and to compare I checked Burnley, who were 8/1. The payout for €10 each way was €60,000 and I just thought, to hell with it, and stuck it on."

Keyes enjoyed the journey as a bit of fun initially.

It wasn't until Leicester dismantled Man City 3-1 at the Etihad that he realised the big win was possible, as Burnley had been in title contention all season.

"It wasn't just that they beat Man City," he says.

"It was that they did it so effortlessly that made me think it was possible."

As Leicester's title challenge picked up more and more momentum, the temptation to hedge his bet was strong but Keyes says that by the business end of the Premier League season, he was 'all in' on Ranieri's men.

Leicester need three points from their final three games - beginning with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday - to lift the Premier League title and deliver a minimum of €15k into Keyes' bank account.

Burnley currently lead the Championship on goal difference but with closing fixtures at home to Birmingham and away to Charlton, there is every chance they could join Leicester in the winners enclosure and guarantee the Dublin-based Twitter employee €60,000.

Keyes says that he has enjoyed the Leicester fairytale more than the potential winnings but still has a plan or two for his forthcoming jackpot.

"I would be very happy with 15 grand but it would be heartbreaking to miss out on the bigger bet," he says.

"There will definitely be a holiday planned and if I win the big one, I'll put about €50,000 towards something sensible like a house.

"I'll definitely have a few parties and one big one down in Drogheda where a lot of my friends are."
