PSV confirm Memphis Depay is set for move
PSV Eindhoven director Marcel Brands has confirmed that his midfielder Memphis Depay is set to leave the club this summer, as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United.
Depay has emerged as a key target for United boss Louis van Gaal, who is a big admirer of the attacking star who impressed in his Holland team during last summer's World Cup finals.
The Sunday World revealed last weekend that Depay had given a green light to make a move to United this summer, but the deal can only be sealed if the Old Trafford club pay PSV's asking price, which may be inflated if a bidding war takes place.
"The chances are very high that he leaves," confirmed Brands. "If you see what clubs are enquiring about him, they really are the best in Europe.
"When I talk for PSV I would say he is not ready and should continue here for another year. But I am realistic and if I worked at a big European club, I'd buy him without question."
When asked whether PSV are resigned to losing Depay, Brands added: "With a heavy heart because a great player and a great guy leaves. But we are also proud that a boy from the academy is going to make such a step."
Our sources told us last week that Depay had told his adviser that he favoured a move to Manchester United, with the ball now in the court of the Premier League club to get the deal finalised.
