Today's Hillsborough memorial service at Anfield was attended by many past and present Liverpool greats but one Everton fan outside the ground showed what the football family is all about.

Today is the 26th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, when 96 football fans went to a football match and never came home.

As the inquest set up to find out exactly what happened that fateful day continues, Liverpool held a memorial service at Anfield.

A large number of past Liverpool greats, their current squad and manager Brendan Rodgers were all in attendance for the service but it was one shot of a fan outside that is the most powerful of the day.

It shows an Everton fan paying his respects at the memorial to those who lost their lives outside Anfield, with a specially made club shirt for the occasion.

For all the talk of the bitterness that exists between fans of different teams, images like this restore your faith in the game.
