One of Liverpool's most important summer signings out for two months
As the countdown to the Premier League kick off continues, Liverpool have been hit with a terrible injury blow.
Summer signing Loris Karius is out for two months after breaking a bone in his hand in the clash against Chelsea in the US earlier this week.
The keeper cost the Reds £4.7m and his arrival from Mainz this summer was expected to put pressure on, or even perhaps spell the end of, former starter Simon Mignolet.
Mignolet had been prone to mistakes for Liverpool and most fans were happy that Karius had arrived to potentially take up the role as the Reds number one.
However, the Belgian will now be sure to start the season opener at Arsenal on August 14 and it may be eight to ten weeks until Karius is back in action.
Karius clashed with Dejan Lovren in Wednesday night's game against Cheslea and he now requires an op to fix a broken bone in his hand.
Earlier this week Liverpool also signed 39-year-old former Arsenal stopper Alex Manninger.
