Newspaper makes a lavish claim over Man Utd's £105m Pogba deal
We have got used to daily (almost hourly) updates on Paul Pogba's possible world record breaking move to Manchester United - yet one newspaper has staked their reputation on the deal being finalised this weekend.
The Sun have lead their back page on a story claiming Pogba's £105m move to Old Trafford will be thrashed out in the next couple of days and they even suggest the French midfielder will be paid precisely £202,000-per-week.
This is not the first time the UK media have claimed a deal for United to sign Pogba is close, with agent Mino Raiola apparently keen to force a deal through after successfully securing moves to United for striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan in recent weeks.
Pogba suggested on Thursday that he would "wait and see" if a move to United was completed, but all involved in the deal accept the Frenchman could yet decide to stay with his current club Juventus.
"There is a lot of talk about Paul's future, but maybe he will not leave Juventus," Raiola told The Times earlier this week.
"He is in no rush to leave, and Juventus do not want him to go. They want him to renew his contract.
"Paul is not desperate to move. We are very happy at Juventus and they are a club that want to keep their star players."
The Sun report claims Pogba could fly to Manchester as early as next Tuesday to have a medical and complete the deal, with their sources clearly believing a deal is close.
Making claims that a transfer will be finalised in a set time period is always a risky business for any reporter and we wait to see whether confirmation of the Pogba deal will come through at the start of next week.
