The transfer window gun has been officially fired today….with the countdown to the January 1st opening date now underway.

We will bring you the best of the transfer gossip every day for the next couple of months on sundayworld.com and already the rumours are flying.

MULLER TO CHELSEA

Manchester United have been chasing the Bayern Munich forward since the summer of 2014, with the ‘astronomical’ bids they submitted to sign him for this season rejected by the German giants.

Now it seems as if they will have rivals for the signature of the World Cup winning forward, with Chelsea being strongly linked with a move to sign Muller as they look to off-load misfiring bad-boy Diego Costa.

The money flowing into the Premier League when the new television contract starts next summer will ensure that all of the biggest names in the game will be linked with moves to England in the coming months, with Muller’s comments that he would like to try his luck away from Bayern fuelling rumours that this one could become reality next summer.

RONALDO TOLD TO JOIN MAN UTD…BY HIS MUM

A classic tabloid newspaper tale has been spun this morning as it was claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s Mum wants her boy to secure a move back to Manchester United next summer.

Of course, there are no quotes from Mother Ronnie to back up the claims, with suggestions that she does not want him to accept an offer to join Paris Saint-Germain after the terror attack in the French capital last month. Who knows whether this yarn has any semblance of truth about it.

CHELSEA WANT TO HAND BACK FALCAO

It is no surprise to see Chelsea making moves to off-load misfiring striker Radamel Falcao, but finding a suita home for the Colombian may not be so easy.

Giving him back to parent club Monaco might not be an option if they are unwilling to fund his return, so it might be that the Blues are stuck with him indefinitely. They only have themselves to blame…they should never have signed him in the first place.

WENGER MISSES OUT ON ANOTHER STAR NAME

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is noted for his inability to close out a transfer deal and it seems as if another star name slipped through his net last year.

Kingsley Coman has been impressing while on loan with Bayern Munich this season, but Wenger claims he could have snapped up the French teenager before his move to Juventus in the summer of 2014.

“We really tried to sign Kingsley Coman in the summer of 2014,” Wenger told beIN sports. “The transfer was almost completed, but he preferred Juventus.”

Yet another to add to Wenger’s list of transfer near misses.

HERRERA INSISTS HE IS HAPPY AT MAN UTD

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has been quick to deny that he is asking for talks with manager Louis van Gaal, amid suggestions that he unhappy with his lack of first team chances this season.

Despite United’s lack of attacking flair, Spanish star Herrera has struggled to get into Van Gaal’s team, in a squad that is loaded with players of a similar ilk.

Yet Herrera has stressed that he is no rush to leave United with this Twitter message:
