Manchester United were believed to be struggling to shift season tickets as doubts lingered over the future of Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford at the start of last month, but all that has changed in an instant.

That lack of enthusiasm has been replaced by wild excitement following the arrival of Jose Mourinho as his replacement, with a surge of tickets sales confirming a change of mood.

Now it has emerged that he last season tickets up for grabs at Old Trafford next season have been snapped up following the arrival of serial winner Mourinho at Old Trafford.

It has been reported that Mourinho has pulled out of his planned appearance at Old Trafford as manager of the England team at the Soccer Aid match this weekend, meaning first game as United manager on home soil is likely to come in Wayne Rooney testimonial in the first week of August.

That will be followed by the opening of the new Premier League season the following weekend, with the gloomy depression that has hung over United since Alex Ferguson's retirement in the summer of 2013 clearing amid the optimism that has greeted Mourinho's appointment.
