Jose Mourinho has posted an Instagram message that suggests he is deep in thought ahead of the new Premier League season.

Mourinho is back at United’s Carrington training HQ after a less than successful pre-season tour of China, as his side lost heavily to Borussia Dortmund and then saw their game against Manchester City called off due to bad weather.

Their 5-2 win against Galatasaray in Sweden on Saturday provided a slightly more upbeat outcome for Mourinho in his new job, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic taking centre stage as he scored on his United debut.

The next item on United’s agenda will be the imminent signing of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, with the club’s fans wondering whether the concerned emoji attached to the latest message on his Instagram post is relating to the ongoing pursuit of the French midfielder.

Mourinho will be hoping Pogba’s signing is confirmed before his side take on Everton in the Wayne Rooney testimonial match at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, which will mark the new United manager’s first appearance in the United bench since he took over from Louis van Gaal in June.

The image revealed that Sky Sports News is running on the big screen behind Mourinho’s desk, with their update on the Pogba transfer saga on Monday morning suggesting the player will soon be flying to Manchester to complete the move.
