Jose Mourinho blasts Utd stars for performing like they were playing 'summer friendly'
The Manchester United boss was not one bit happy with how his team started in their 2-1 Europa League loss to Fenerbahce tonight.
The Red Devils conceded after just one minute as Moussa Sow's incredible overhead kick gave Dick Advocaat's side the lead.
Mourinho voiced his displeasure at how his Manchester United side began the game:
Jose Mourinho bemoans #MUFC's slow start: "[It was like] they were playing a Champions League final and we were playing a summer friendly."— Manchester United (@ManUtd) November 3, 2016
Jose: "A team that concedes a goal after two minutes is a team that is not ready, not prepared, not concentrated .. it’s our fault.— jamie jackson (@JamieJackson___) November 3, 2016
Mourinho in press conference: "I told them not to be focused on the easy game at Old Trafford. They started 100mph, we started really slow"— Simon Peach (@SimonPeach) November 3, 2016
After losing Paul Pogba to injury in the opening period, United again conceded with just less than an hour played as former Sunderland winger Jeremain Lens caught out the usually unflappable David de Gea with an excellent free-kick.
Wayne Rooney netted a 30-yard scorcher with a minute of normal time remaining but it was too little, too late for United.
Mourinho now believes his team must win their two remaining Group A ties to qualify for the knockout stages:
The Manchester outfit currently sit third in the group on six points, with both Feyenoord and Fenerbahce on seven points while Zorya Luhansk prop up the group with just four points from their four fixtures.
