Jose Mourinho aiming to bring former Arsenal midfielder to Manchester United

Man United are said to be hot on the heels of a midfielder that spent his early years at rival Premier League club Arsenal.

Jose Mourinho is thought to have his eyes on another midfielder as the Paul Pogba saga rolls on, endlessly.

The latest name linked with an Old Trafford switch is Oguzhan Ozyakup, a 23-year-old Turkish midfielder who plies his trade for Besiktas.

Caughtoffiside.com say that, according to Spanish news outlet Deportivo Valenciano, United will face competition for the former Arsenal man from Valencia, who sold Andre Gomes to Barcelona in July.

Ozyakup, signed as 16-year-old by Arsene Wenger, was on the bench for the Gunners on August 28, 2011 when they were hammered 8-2 by Alex Ferguson's men.

He also made the bench for Arsenal's round-of-16 clash against AC Milan in the Champions League, while making two League Cup appearances that season which produced one assist.

Since moving to Besiktas ahead of the 2012/13 campaign, the midfielder has scored 19 goals and provided 22 assists in 110 appearances.

Last season was easily his best for the Super Lig side, contributing nine goals and seven assists to a title-winning campaign.

Ozyakup also has 23 international caps for Turkey under his belt, while he started twice and made one sub appearance at Euro 2016.

The report on United's interest suggests that Mourinho is keen on Ozyakup, with United said to be prepared to part with €20million to land the player.
