Atletico Madrid have admitted they may not be able to hang on to Manchester United and Chelsea transfer target Antoine Griezmann.

It seems unlikely that there will be too many major deals in the final week of the transfer window, but a move for Griezmann to Chelsea or United could be the biggest of the lot.

A possible move for the French star appeared to edge closer after Atletico boss Diego Simeone admitted his club may be unable to hang on to their star asset if a mega-money bid was launched.

“The sporting directors have been speaking to him directly, with those close to him, in order to work out what’s best for him and the club," stated Simeone.

“Of course he’s a very important player for us, but we can’t hold him here with chains.”

However, Griezmann appears to be in no rush to leave Atletico, as he confirmed he is happy with his current club.

"I am feeling very well at Atletico," Griezmann told French publication Telefoot.

"This is a big club and I want to achieve great things here. I am ambitious and my goal is to win trophies here.

"I have become more mature. The club and my team-mates rely on me.

"I have become a more complete player and have to continue on the same path. I am not at my best just yet.

"I work every day to improve and reach my top. I am still far away from the best players."
