Milner free-kick creates a twitter storm as Liverpool win again
Liverpool maintained their 100 per-cent record in the Premier League with a 1-0 win against Bournemouth at Anfield, as a late James Milner free-kick created something of a stir on social media.
Christian Benteke marked his first game for Liverpool at Anfield with a first half winner in front of The Kop, with Bournemouth pushing the home side hard as they had chances to draw level.
Benteke's goal could and should have been ruled out as Liverpool players were interfering with play prior to the Belgian striker's close range finish, yet Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was keen to play down his side's stroke of good fortune.
"We said it would be a tough game. Defensively we were very good. Our play was better after the goal, I am very pleased," stated Rodgers.
"I haven't seen the replay and two it is a goal. The interpretation off offside changes every season, so it is difficult. If you are offside you are offside.
"Christian Benteke gives us other options, his hold-up play was excellent. When the ball comes into the box he is a real threat and handful. He deserved his goal.
"I'm very pleased for the players, six points, two clean sheets and the team will grow. A glut of new players finding their feet."
While Liverpool fans were pleased to toast another victory, the late free-kick offered up by their summer signing James Milner created hilarity aplenty on social media.
A well worked set-piece routine set Milner up for a shot at goal, but his sliced effort even had Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn chuckling in the stands.

Worst free kick routine of all time, Milner has just tried to put that on the moon.— LFC Fans Corner (@LFCFansCorner) August 17, 2015
It should be pointed out that Milner was one of Liverpool's best players on the night, with his pass accuracy and energy confirming he should be a fine signing for Rodgers this season.
