Mesut Ozil - Arsenal can still be champions
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is convinced his side can overhaul Leicester and finish this season as Premier League champions.
The Gunners have fallen 11 points behind the Foxes and even though they have a game in hand on the Premier League pace-setters, they have just eight games left to play in their bid to close the gap.
That has not diluted Ozil's ambitions, as he suggests an end of season surge could get Arsenal back in the mix for the title.
"I do not think it impossible," Ozil told German newspaper Welt am Sonntag. "Although there are only a few games left, Leicester have a run against some of the big teams to come.
"We ourselves must in any case not allow any more slip-ups. The hope of the title is still there - we have the players for the title."
Ozil also offered this glowing tribute to Claudio Ranieri's Leicester, who are closing in on what would be an historic Premier League title triumph.
"They deserve to be up there - Leicester fight for every point," he added.
"We see in every game that players of Leicester want to achieve something. We ourselves have not been focused in every game, and that is not possible in the Premier League since there is no opponent you can beat easily.
"Leicester have been great, but there are still a few games. I think we still have a chance to catch up Leicester. We must, of course, hope for mistakes."
