Memphis Depay holds talks with Man Utd, reports
Memphis Depay has held talks with Manchester United officials including Louis van Gaal, according to a report in Dutch soccer magazine Voetbal International.
PSV Eindhoven officials confirmed that United were among the clubs who had contacted them with an interest in signing Depay, with sundayworld.com sources suggesting the 21-year-old winger favours at a move to Old Trafford.
Now the long-running Voetbal International magazine has claimed that Depay and his representatives were in Manchester on Wednesday to talk over a summer move to United, with Van Gaal believed to have been part of the delegation from Old Trafford.
"His agent Kees Ploegsma and his colleague Kees Vos were also present at the interview with the English club," read the report. "The United delegation was led by manager Louis van Gaal."
Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be the other two clubs tracking Depay, but his desire to link up with Van Gaal at United has been the driving factor behind a move that has been gathering momentum for several weeks.
We revealed earlier this month that Depay was keen to push forward with his move to United, after he confirmed he was ready to leave PSV after playing a key role in their first Dutch title triumph for seven years.
If these latest reports prove to be accurate, it seems that United are edging closer to making Depay their first big signing of the off-season, ahead of what they hope will be a return to the Champions League next season.
