Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels may be on his way to Bayern Munich this summer, according to the latest reports coming out of Germany.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been linked with a move to sign Hummels in recent days, but it seems as if his future may lie in his homeland.

Bild are suggesting that Dortmund have already opened negotiations with Bayern over the defender who left Munich at the formative stages of his career and later emerged as a star of one of their chief Bundesliga rivals.

At the age of 27, Hummels looks set to be one of the big names movers in the summer transfer window, following relentless speculation that he was close to joining Manchester United last summer.

Hummels has confirmed that he pulled the plug on a possible move to Old Trafford, but it seems as if he will leave Dortmund this summer after confirming he is “having sleepless nights” over his next career move.

There have been suggestions that Hummels could move to Bayern Munich as part of a swap deal involving former Borussia Dortmund striker Mario Gotze, but the latest reports suggest a €30m fee is being negotiated for the player.

Liverpool are expected to make a move to sign Gotze this summer, with both the player and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp refusing to deny they could resume the successful working relationship they enjoyed together at Dortmund.
