Manchester United transfer update: Ighalo, Renato Sanches, Debuchy
On a quiet transfer deadline day, Manchester United could still possibly make a signing having being linked with options in several positions.
The Metro claims that Odion Ighalo could be subject to a late Manchester United transfer bid as Louis van Gaal searches for an answer to United’s goalscoring issues.
The Telegraph suggests that the Nigerian forward could move to Old Trafford for a fee in the region of £15million, a bid that could force Watford’s hand.
26-year-old Ighalo, who scored the winner in Watford’s FA Cup fourth round 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest, has 14 Premier League strikes to his name this season.
Meanwhile, the Renato Sanches to United rumours continue to circulate though Benfica sound relaxed regarding the speculation.
“Renato is mature beyond his age,” Benfica manager Rui Vitoria told Sport TV. “He is being protected by a group of players who support him and are giving him a lot of help.
“This situation is not difficult for us. If things happen, they happen. We all know that’s the way it is. There is no point in worrying over things that have yet to happen.
“There is no drama about all this. The team is very stable and that helps dealing with speculation like this.”
Finally, it looks as though Arsene Wenger has blocked Mathieu Debuchy’s potential transfer to Old Trafford.
Louis van Gaal is desperate for defensive reinforcements with the likes of Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Phil Jones all currently injured.
However, reports from France suggest that the 30-year-old full back will make a loan switch to Ligue 1 club Bordeaux with a view to making the move permanent in the summer.
