Manchester United have released their list of squad numbers for the 2016/17 season.

The Red Devils released their squad numbers for the upcoming season this evening.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has taken the much-coveted number 9 shirt from Anthony Martial, as he prepares to become a "God" in Manchester.

Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been handed the number 22 jersey while other new recruit Eric Bailly will don number 3.

This means Luke Shaw, who returned from a 10-month layoff to play 45 minutes in a pre-season victory over Wigan last Saturday, will remain at number 23.

Having been named the club's number 3 when he joined in summer 2014, the left-back chose his favoured number 23 for the 2015/16 season after Tom Cleverly left United for Everton.

Juan Mata holds onto the number 8 shirt despite rumours that Zlatan would be taking it.

Martial takes the legendary number 11 shirt, worn most famously be the now departed Ryan Giggs, as Adnan Januzaj switches to number 15.
