Manchester United fans extremely unhappy with club's latest 'signing'
United supporters were treated to the announcement of a new signing for the club today – it was not who they expected.
Manchester United announced their newest signing via social media today.
With fans waiting with baited breath for Paul Pogba to return to the red side of Manchester, it turned out the signing was not even of a footballer.
Virgin Money have been recruited as the club's new UK retail financial services partner, with Virgin founder Richard Branson handed a United jersey for the announcement:
The reaction from United fans ranged from mildly indignant, to hilarious, to extremely pi**ed off:
@ManUtd when did pogba grow a beard and change his name— Vikram (@thereversefIash) July 18, 2016
@ManUtd what fuckery is this— Vikram (@thereversefIash) July 18, 2016
Branson then attempted some 'banter' with high-profile United fan and world's fastest man Usain Bolt on Twitter, which went down like a lead balloon:
Lol.. Good one https://t.co/vUh0obhkCg— Usain St. Leo Bolt (@usainbolt) July 18, 2016
The club might do well to ensure further big announcements are solely those of football players joining the club.
