Argentina defender Nicolas Otamendi has hinted that he has instructed his agent to secure him a big-money move this summer - as reports continue to suggest that may well be to Manchester United.

Valencia centre-back Otamendi has told ESPN that he is keen to make a move ahead of the new season, just a year after he left FC Porto to move to the Spanish league.

With his club demanding €50m before they would consider selling the 27-year-old who is also being linked with Real Madrid, Otamendi spoke candidly as he hinted he was ready to secure a career defining transfer this summer.

"I had a chat with the Valencia president and my agent, and he knows very well what I want," he said, speaking from the Argentina training base at the Copa America.

"I have told my agent that my head is here [with his national team] and I will leave it in his hands to do what he must do.

"The truth is that I am enjoying being with the national team, at the Copa America, where there is a lot of responsibility to wear the jersey.

"Every word my agent says is obviously with my authorisation, with whoever he needs to speak with.

"At the moment, as I said, my head is fully with the national team, to be able to perform at the maximum when I get to play, and to enjoy this unique moment."

Otamendi's rise to the top of the game in double quick time is a remarkable tale and with United seemingly unable to get any movement in their bid to sign first choice defensive target Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund, other options will now be explored.

An all-Argentine central defensive pairing of Marcos Rojo and Otamendi may appeal to United manager Louis van Gaal, with the experience the duo would offer appearing to be an improvement on the options they had in their back line last season.
