Man Utd ready to snatch Arsenal target?
The transfer window is entering its final few days and the rumours are hotting up.....
Adrien Rabiot has been linked with a move to Arsenal for several months, but reports in Spain suggest Manchester United have joined the race to sign the 20-year-old Frenchman.
United’s eagerness to add to their squad as they look to get back into the Premier League title race could fuel their interest in Rabiot, with the 20-year-old viewed as one of the rising stars of European football.
Don Ballon are reporting that Rabiot is on a list of targets for United, with a fee of around £20m being mentioned for the youngster.
Meanwhile, the links between Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and Barcelona have been revived.
Ramsey (below) was a surprise transfer target for Barcelona last summer and now there are suggestions that the Catalan giants will return with a fresh bid for the Welshman later this year.
Barcelona were under transfer embargo when they came calling for Ramsey ahead of this season, but they were still keen to sign the midfielder and have him available for the second half of this season.
Arsenal were in no mood to sell one of their star assets, but their eagerness to cling on to Ramsey looks set to be tested once more later this year.
With Welshman Gareth Bale lighting up La Liga with Real Madrid over the last three years, could it be that Ramsey could join him in Spain?
Elswewhere, Arsenal have been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka could make a move this month, with the Gunners rumoured to be preparing a bid for the 23-year-old Swiss international midfielder.
Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl told radio station WDR 2: "It depends a bit on our own sporting success, it depends on Granit’s own performances and of course it depends on the figures.
"If they reach a certain level, then you could start to get dizzy. There are always situations in which every club would have to make considerations."
Finally, Newcastle are eager to sign Tottenham’s Andros Townsend this month, but the huge asking price on the winger could put a block on the deal.
Spurs are reportedly demanding a fee of £14m to sign Townsend, who has no future with his current club after falling out of favour with manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Townsend could inject some pace and energy to the wide positions at Newcastle, with Steve McClaren being backed with transfer funds this month as he looks to keep the club in the Premier League.
Sky Sports claim talks are ongoing between Spurs and Newcastle over Townsend, with his hefty wage demands another obstacle that will need to be overcome if a deal is to be done.
