Video - Man Utd "preparing to announce" Paul Pogba signing
Manchester United are said to be "preparing to announce" the €120m signing of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba as the long (and man would suggest tedious) transfer saga of the summer edges towards a conclusion.
The latest word emerging from Old Trafford sources suggests the Pogba deal will be finalised imminently, with the reported dispute over the payment of fees to agent Mino Raiola now all but resolved.
The apparent delay in the transfer sparked speculation that Real Madrid's interest in Pogba could yet provide an unlikely conclusion to this story, but United chiefs have always been confident of sealing the deal.
Real Madrid registered their interest in signing Pogba back in May, but they were reluctant to match United's financial package to sign the player and did not make any fresh offers to Juventus for the player in recent days.
Sunday World sources revealed last weekend that the fine details of Pogba's move would be ironed out this week, with Pogba's future always likely to be resolved when he returned from his holiday in Miami.
The French midfielder has clearly enjoyed teasing United fans with images on his Instagram account in recent days, with the latest edited photograph using United red to highlight his shoes and cap as he posed next to an expensive sports car.
Yet this enduring tale appears to be finally coming to a conclusion, with Pogba due to return from Miami and he may well fly straight to Manchester to complete his return to United.
The lavish fee being paid to re-sign a player who left Old Trafford for nothing four years ago does not appear to have diluted the desire of United fans to see the 23-year-old back in a red shirt, with that reality now edging ever closer.
Now all that is needed is the final confirmation that the most expensive transfer of all time has been confirmed...with that announcement likely to come over the next couple of days.
